Our February Mindful Hawaii Community Meeting
ALOHA ALL!!
OUR NEXT MINDFUL HAWAII COMMUNITY MEETING WILL BE AT 1 PM SATURDAY 22 FEBRUARY 2020 AT KAITO GAKKO, 3225 PAKANU ST, NEXT TO THE MANOA CHINESE CEMETERY.
At our FEBRUARY community meeting, DR. MARINA PISCOLISH will present and lead us in a broader and deeper conversation about a leadership and organizing program for MINDFUL HAWAII that’s based on Dr. Margaret Wheatley’s program for “Warriors of The Human Spirit” and for creating “Islands of Sanity.” Margaret Wheatley’s program incorporates principles of Shambhala Warrior-ship. To learn more about this, we would like to encourage you to pick up Dr. Wheatley’s book “Who Do We Choose to Be.” Paper back editions are available on Amazon Books for less than ten dollars.
To move mindfulness wider and deeper into our communities, Mindful Hawaii will need a leadership, organizing, and networking capability to enroll mindfulness practitioners in an organized effort to touch and sustain an on-going conversation at the grassroots level about living mindfully and spreading the subtle power of mindfulness in communal life. When mindfulness spreads wider and deeper into our communities, transformational shifts will occur at deeper levels of our communal being and in-turn actions at surface levels. As JON KABOT-ZINN said, mindfulness is not only about individual transformation but about societal transformation. Mindfulness can change the world.
Let’s begin the conversation and work to transform the deep foundations of our home.
Please note that we have upgraded our email newsletter software after a series of technical issues with our previous provider. We hope you enjoy the new experience over time.
LOOKING AHEAD: Our MARCH community meeting will be at 1pm Saturday 14 March 2020 at Kaito Gakko. The focus of that regular meeting will be on RESTORATIVE JUSTICE. The speaker will be LOREN WALKER JD, MPH, DIRECTOR OF HAWAII FRIENDS OF RESTORATIVE JUSTICE. Details of Loren’s presentation are still forming. We will report to you as details are firmed up.
Also, in addition to our monthly community meeting in March, we will have an inaugural event to kickoff conversations about “SPIRITUAL AGING” on Saturday 28 March 2020 at the Church Of The Crossroads. In our preliminary conversations with people involved in the field of aging, spiritual growth among Hawaii’s aging population is much needed. Spiritual growth is important at any age but, for seniors who find themselves increasingly isolated and alone, inner resilience is especially crucial. We need to bring attention to the importance of Spiritual Aging. More on this project later.
When YOU participate, reach out, and invite people, Mindful Hawaii GROWS.
Mark your calendars and attend our activities.
With Warm Aloha and Best Wishes,
Jimmy
