MINDFUL HAWAII
MANY TRUTHS, MANY PATHS, ONE SOURCE

ALOHA ALL!!

OUR NEXT MINDFUL HAWAII COMMUNITY MEETING WILL BE AT 1 PM SATURDAY 27 APRIL 2019 AT KAITO GAKKO, 3225 PAKANU ST, NEXT TO THE MANOA CHINESE CEMETERY.

We will have two interesting presenters, so mark you busy calendars.

ELIZABETH KASHINSKY will speak on nature therapy—focusing on mindfulness in nature. Nature therapy stems from the belief that people are part of the web of life and that their psyches are not isolated or separated from the environment. Nature therapy provides individuals with an opportunity to explore their relationship with nature. People walking in a nature setting experience less anger, more positive emotions, and reduced symptoms of depression.

Steve Taylor, PHD, a noted writer of awakening says that contact with nature is one of the most frequent triggers of awakening experiences; e.g.. feeling greater connectedness to nature and people.

PHYLLIS LOOK will speak on Forest Bathing—a forest walking experience originating in Japan called Shinrin-Yoku. Research data shows that Forest Bathing lowers heart rate and blood pressure, reduces stress, boost immune systems and improves overall feelings of well being. Forest Bathing can trigger to awakening experiences too.

There will be an opportunity to experience forest bathing on May 25th. Details about how to participate in a Forest Bathing event will be forth coming. Phyllis Look is the owner and certified guide for Forest Bathing Hawaii. FOREST BATHING HAWAII was recently recognized by FORBES Magazine as one of the top five nature walk attractions in the world.

A nature therapy walk will be scheduled at a later date, perhaps during the summer when Lizabeth’s schedule lightens up.
