In mindfulness being in the present moment is highlighted as a way to peace within. Focusing on the breath, letting thoughts, emotions, sensations come and letting go. Have you ever been in the moment? After seeing the video below, I question whether I have ever been in the moment. Yes, I have glimpsed moments by letting go of all, but how does one fully experience the moment as they happen?
Try an experiment before watching the video. Take a four second space in time with being in the present moment for the four seconds. Do it several times and see what you experience. Were you in the moment the entire four seconds every time?
It is suggested in mindfulness that by being aware of bodily sensations, hearing of sounds, seeing what’s around us, moving towards or away from something, saying words, we can experience being in the moment. I tend to agree but as you’ll see there’s a lot that can happen in four seconds.
Enjoy the journey in or out of the moment!
