Amy Brown’s doctorate is in Human Nutrition and Foods from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, and she is an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine’s Department of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Her research focuses on how foods hold therapeutic potential for disease. She is the author of 36 peer reviewed scientific articles, including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics position paper on Functional Foods, and “Understanding Food,” the number one best-selling college textbook (5th ed) in its field for dietetic majors.
