Our January 25 Mindful Hawaii Meeting

MINDFUL HAWAII
MANY TRUTHS, MANY PATHS, ONE SOURCE

ALOHA ALL!!

HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT HOLIDAY SEASON. JUST A GENTLE REMINDER THAT MINDFUL HAWAII DID NOT MEET AS A COMMUNITY IN DECEMBER. YOU MAY RECALL THAT OUR COMMUNITY TAKES A BREAK IN DECEMBER TO ENJOY THE WONDERS AND JOYS OF THE SEASON. IT’S A WONDERFUL TIME TO REGENERATE.

WE BEGIN 2020,THE YEAR OF THE RAT BUT, FOR US, IT WILL BE THE YEAR OF PERFECT VISION. OUR FIRST MINDFUL HAWAII COMMUNITY MEETING WILL BE AT 1 PM SATURDAY 25 JANUARY 2020 AT KAITO GAKKO, 3225 PAKANU ST, NEXT TO THE MANOA CHINESE CEMETERY.

We will open our year with TOM DAVIDSON-MARK, ALOHA SANGHA, who will lead us in meditation and a dharma talk(s). We will also be blessed again with the lively presence of CHANARA CASEY RICHMOND, Voice Teacher and Consultant. Community members may recall that CHANARA led us in singing and showing us how using our voices can heal and opening channels to get in touch with our spiritual selves. More later on Tom and Chanara.

OUR JANUARY MEETING WILL BE MEDITATIVELY INSIGHTFUL AND CALM, INFORMATIVE AND FUN. PLEASE MARK YOUR BUSY CALENDARS AND PLAN TO ATTEND OUR 25 JANUARY 2020 MEETING. DON’T MISS IT. INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO JOIN YOU.

A BIG MAHALO TO DR. DEAN NELSON for his November presentation on the “Path of the Shambhala Warrior.” His presentation was, in and of itself interesting, but also foundational to Mindful Hawaii’s plan to explore the development of a leadership and organizing program.

THUS, FOR ADVANCE PLANNING, Please take note that for our FEBRUARY community meeting, DR, MARINA PISCOLISH will present and lead us in a broader and deeper conversation about a leadership and organizing program that’s based on Dr. Margaret Wheatley’s program for “Warriors of The Human Spirit” and creating “Islands of Sanity.” Margaret Wheatley’s program incorporates principles of Shambhala Warrior-ship. To learn more about this, we would like to encourage you to pick up Dr. Wheatley’s book “Who Do We Choose to Be.” Paper back editions are available on Amazon Books for less than ten dollars.

In MARCH, the focus of our regular meeting may be on the idea of JUSTICE. We are currently working on this meeting and will report to you as details are firmed up. Also, in addition to our monthly community meeting we will have, if all goes well, an inaugural event to kickoff conversations about “SPIRITUAL AGING.” In our preliminary conversations with people involved in the field of aging, spiritual growth among Hawaii’s aging population is much needed. Spiritual growth is important at any age but, for seniors who find themselves increasingly isolated and alone, inner resilience is especially crucial. We need to bring attention to the importance of Spiritual Aging. More on this project later.

MUCH MAHALO FOR YOUR GREAT SUPPORT IN 2019 and HOPE FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND INVOLVEMENT!!! I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING ALL OF YOU IN 2020, THE YEAR OF THE PREFECT VISION.

With Warm Aloha,

Jimmy
