Our September 21 Mindful Hawaii Community Meeting

ALOHA ALL!!

OUR NEXT MINDFUL HAWAII COMMUNITY MEETING WILL BE AT 1 PM SATURDAY  21 SEPTEMBER 2019 AT KAITO GAKKO, 3225 PAKANU ST, NEXT TO THE MANOA CHINESE CEMETERY.  THE PRESENTER FOR THAT DAY WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT A LATER DATE. (Mahalo for your understanding)

A BIG MAHALO TO ALAN GAMBLE, LCSW, AND PRESIDENT OF MITS AOKI LEGACY FOUNDATION, FOR AN INFORMATIVE AND AWAKENING EXPERIENCE. Alan’s expert presentation of Mits Aoki’s work profoundly touched all that were in attendance. Alan walked us through several of Dr. Aoki’s exercises which helped us to become personally aware of our own eventual mortality and how that awareness can bring a measure of freedom into our present lives and added capacity to enjoy the gift of each present moment. We indeed got more than a glimpse of LIVING OUR DYING.

Enclosed in this letter is a copy of Dr. Mits Aoki’s presentation to care givers on Kauai, August 8, 1992. The title the presentation is “Death As A Healing Process,” and in it you discover the five points that gives guidance to our thinking of death. These five points not only provide guidance to facing our own mortality but also, very importantly, how we could live life better.

You may also find excellent videos on the subject as presented by Dr. Aoki at the Mits Aoki Legacy Foundation web site. Your visit there will be richly rewarded.

We were also treated to shakuhachi (bamboo flute) flavorings by KATSUMI TAKEMOTO.  The soothing sounds, by Katsumi,  accompanying the reading of “White Ashes I” gave the reading of the well known Buddhist epistle a moving moment.

NOTE: Lila Edwards, a Mindful Hawaii Community member, will be speaking on a panel at the Dharmachakra Festival, Saturday 14 September 2019, 3:30 to 8:00 pm.

Please mark your busy calendars for our next Mindful Hawaii Community meeting at 1 pm 21 September 2019. Would love to see you there.

Mahalo,

Jimmy

Our August 17 Mindful Hawaii Community Meeting

MINDFUL HAWAII

MANY TRUTHS, MANY PATHS, ONE SOURCE

ALOHA ALL!!

OUR NEXT MINDFUL HAWAII COMMUNITY MEETING WILL BE AT 1 PM SATURDAY  17 AUGUST 2019 AT KAITO GAKKO, 3225 PAKANU ST, NEXT TO THE MANOA CHINESE CEMETERY.

Our next presenter will be ALAN GAMBLE, LCSW, AND PRESIDENT OF MITS AOKI LEGACY FOUNDATION. ALAN IS ALSO THE CHAIR OF WESLEY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE. THE TOPIC OF HIS PRESENTATION WILL BE “LIVING YOUR DYING”.   Its a subject that we all think about.  Whether its front and center in our thinking or not, we all at one time or another become consciously aware of our own mortality, including our loved ones. Its a subject the late Mits Aoki says we all could use some direction on.

There will be more on the presentation in a Mindful Hawaii Community meeting notice in the near future. In the meantime please mark your calendars for this important meeting.

We extend our HEART FELT MAHALO to DR. HELEN STEWART for a wonderful presentation.  A very large audience was treated to practical insights and experiences gained thru participation in several exercises. The exercises not only gave glimpses into the intuitive process but also clues to positive daily living.

We hope Dr. Stewart can make a return visit to our Mindful Hawaii Community Meeting. Its in the works.

Again, please mark your calendars for August.

Mindful Hawaiʻi 27 July Meeting

MINDFUL HAWAII
MANY TRUTHS, MANY PATHS, ONE SOURCE

ALOHA ALL!! OUR NEXT MINDFUL HAWAII COMMUNITY MEETING WILL BE AT 1 PM SATURDAY  27 JULY 2019 AT KAITO GAKKO, 3225 PAKANU ST, NEXT TO THE MANOA CHINESE CEMETERY.

Our next presenter will be DR. HELEN STEWART of Seven Seconds or Less: Insight for Business, Spirit, and Daily Life. Helen will be talking about “INTUITION.”

HELEN L. STEWART, PhD  has served as a teacher, academic administrator, management consultant, business intuitive, writer, arbitrator and mediator and, community organizer. Her accomplishments and experiences are broad, varied, and deep. Helen served as an UN interpreter in French, served as a UN sociologist in West Africa and was a radio personality in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been, and still is, an intuitive and traditional management consultant to many individuals and companies in the United States and abroad, some of these companies are publicly traded companies. Helen has served on boards of Directors, including the Institute for Educational Management, Advisory Board at Harvard University and, the Board of Directors of the Women’s Foundation in San Francisco, California.

Helen earned a PhD in Sociology from Brandeis University and was a post doctoral scholar at Harvard University. She earned her bachelors and masters degrees from Boston University in sociology and African studies. She taught at Wellesley College and Brandeis University. Helen was an Academic Administrator at San Francisco State University and Sonoma State University, where she was appointed as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Her last academic appointment was as Provost of Rider University in New Jersey.

Helen has studied and taught metaphysics and intuition for several decades.  She studied with many spiritual teachers as well as founding a metaphysical institute.  Helen has taught intuition to practitioners, celebrities, artists, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, ministers, healers, priests, regular folks in the U.S. and abroad. She is also an author of a self help book on business applications of intuition entitled “Seven Seconds or Less: From Gut Feeling to Bottom Line in Challenging Areas of Business.”  Helen is currently working on another book, a collection of non-fiction stories about the “The Great American Fears.”

In general, it’s not clear where intuitive information comes from. It is nonetheless real as people from all walks of life around the globe has experienced it. Intuition is that something that brings quick awareness to someone, in some cases saving a life or helping to avert disaster. Moreover, it is said that a person’s intuition is their conscious connection to their spirit. Whatever a person’s religious or spiritual orientation, a person’s intuition can be a pathway to feeling, hearing, seeing, and knowing one’s connection to spirit. When a person is connected to their awareness, their spiritual practice can be more fulfilling and satisfying.

Everyone, whether or not they they have experienced it, has access to it and, can cultivate it.  It is a subject many people are interested in.

It will be an interesting presentation and lively conversation with intuitive Dr. Helen Stewart at 1 pm Saturday 27 July 2019 at Kaito Gakko.  See you then.

We will also have short meditation sessions during our community meeting.

Mahalo,

Jimmy
